چکیده
Se registra por primera vez en Venezuela la presencia del género Megaselia sp (Rondani, 1856) (Diptera: Phoridae) sobre frutos descomposición de hemiparásita Phthirusa pyrifolia (Kunth) Eichler (Loranthaceae) conocida popularmente como guatepajarito, parásita colectada ciudad Puerto Ordaz, ubicado el municipio Caroní, estado Bolívar, (8º18'55''LN; 62º42'53''LO) muy cerca unión río al Orinoco. Igualmente es primer reporte para Venezuela.

The behavior of females of a species of Megaselia is described. Females perch on leaves and occasionally "dance", fluttering their wings while rapidly running on the leaf surface. During this dance, they evert bright white abdominal sacs that apparently constitute part of a visual display to attract males. The evolutionary basis of these behaviors is discussed.

We describe some ultrastructure of the third-instar Megaselia scalaris (Diptera: Phoridae) using scanning electron microscopy, with the cephalic segment, anterior spiracle and posterior spiracle being emphasized. This study provides the taxonomic information of this larval species, which may be useful to differentiate from other closely-related species.
